In his encyclical, “Laudato Si’—Care for our Common Home”, Pope Francis sings the praises of God’s creation. We, God’s people, are the care-takers of this precious gift of God. This is the privilege and responsibility God has entrusted to humanity. As we look forward to the upcoming year, we not only seek to grow in appreciation and reverence for all our brothers and sisters, but also for the other creatures God has put in our midst to join us on our life’s journey. Our annual Pet Blessing will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2:00 p.m. here at St. Francis Retreat House. This blessing celebrates the wonders of God’s world as we pray God’s protection and care on our pets. Come and join us as we remember St. Francis of Assisi, and bring your pets as we acclaim God’s goodness in all His creatures.
*Free event.
Prayer to Bless Your Pet
We love having you come and share in our blessing ceremony at St. Francis Retreat House; but if you are not able to join us on that day, you can bless your pet at home, any time, by saying the following prayer:
Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. You inspired St. Francis to call all animals his brothers and sisters. We ask you to bless this animal. By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan. Amen.
