What’s Happening this Fall at St. Francis Retreat House in Easton?
By Diane F. Rice
Our 2018 Mini- Retreat series, Prophetic Journeys: Saints Nearby resumes in September. The goal of the series is to offer the inspiration and faith-journeys of various USA saints, especially those with connections to our part of the country. These evenings are opportunities for our own ongoing discernment. As we examine the unique spiritualties of those who’ve gone before us, it can help guide us to look deeper at our own gifts and talents and where we might use them.

On Monday evening, September 24, the presentation entitled “When Nobody Else Did, She Loved Us,” will focus on the life and spirituality of St. Katharine Drexel, Philadelphia native.

St. Katharine Drexel’s love for God in the Eucharist was poured out in loving service for others. She felt the call to minister to African-Americans and Native Americans in a time period when they were painfully facing the sin of racism. This presentation will offer her life as a call for us to continue the work of challenging racism with love today. Our presenter for the evening is Diane Rice, M.A., Theology.

The Prophetic Journeys Series continues through December 2018. Other upcoming Mini-Retreats will include presentations on Cornelia Connelly, and Fr. Stanley Rother, America’s newest saint. The series will conclude in December with a program entitled “A Franciscan Christmas.”

Our Monday Mini-Retreats begin with a delicious meal at 6 p.m. A time for prayer, presentation, and discussion follows from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Suggested donation is $30. Registration is requested seven days in advance, if possible, so preparations can be made. Please call for information or to register at: 610-258-3053, ext. 10, or All are welcome!
